Chevy Horror Movie Ad Campaign Focuses of Safety

Horror films are notorious for having characters that place themselves in dangerous situations. Aside from yelling, “Don’t go in there!,” there is little you can do to give these characters a heads up. Chevy is playing with this cinematic experience with its great new ad campaign, asking drivers: don’t you wish you had someone to warn you of danger?

According to Chevy, the Chevy horror movie ad campaign is designed to showcase the safety features of the new Malibu and Cruze with satirical horror-movie-like scenes directed by legendary filmmaker, Sam Raimi. The new ad runs just like a horror movie trailer, but with a twist ending.

“We continue to look for unexpected, attention grabbing ways to tell our story,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. Furthermore, “With this trailer, we have thrown a twist into that quintessential, edge of your seat horror movie moment to highlight the comprehensive suite of available active safety technologies in our new Malibu and Cruze.”

Raimi, who has directed the Evil Dead series, claims this new trailer will have viewers on the edge of their seats. Instead of frustration, viewers will experience relief as the characters learn about the value of advanced warnings—much like the safety features on the Malibu and Cruze. These include Front Pedestrian Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Side Blind Zone Alert, Forward Collision Alert, Intellibeam, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front and Rear Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Automatic Parking Assist.  To find out more about the new Malibu and Cruze, stop by Don Brown Chevrolet today!

New 2017 Camaro 1LE Package Showcased at Chicago Auto Show

2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE

Chevy recently premiered the new 2017 Camaro 1LE at the Chicago Auto Show on February 18. This model is one of the best-performing muscle cars to come out of Chevy’s engineering labs, with raw power and intelligent technologies. For the first time ever, the new 1LE package will come available on the 1LT and 2LT coupes.

According to Fox Sports, the 2017 Camaro 1LE package includes an FE3 suspension, Brembo four-piston front brake calipers, a stain-black hood, front splitter, and a distinct three-piece spoiler. This model has a curb weight under 3,500 pounds thanks to lightweight engineering, as well as superb front-to-rear weigh balance thanks to the precise FE3 suspension.

“The result delivers better performance in all measures,” said Al Oppenheiser, lead engineer on the new Camaro. Oppenheiser goes on to say that, “In our development tests, the V6 Camaro 1LE delivers lap times comparable with the previous-gen V8 model. The 2016 Camaro SS 1LE sets the new benchmark for the segment, lapping the Big Willow track at Willow Springs three seconds faster than the standard Camaro SS.”

This package will have an available 6.2-liter LT1 V8 that provides 455 horsepower. The SS model comes with a FE4 suspension and added dampers, springs, and stabilizers. We can’t wait to see the new 1LE hit the streets after seeing photos from the Chicago Auto Show.  Tell us at Don Brown Chevrolet what you are most excited about in the new 2017 Chevrolet Camaro.

New Silverado Commercial Gives You One More Reason to Love Chevy

2016 Chevrolet Silverado

If you were watching any college football bowl games earlier this month, you may have caught Chevy’s new Silverado commercial highlighting the all-American favorite pickup’s new “Mobile Office” connectivity features. (If you missed it, you can watch it here now.) The new Silverado commercial is a continuation of Chevy’s popular “Real People, Not Actors” campaign, and once again a lot of real people and not actors are wildly impressed by Chevrolet; this time, people are impressed by Chevy’s 4G LTE Wifi.

In this commercial, Chevy points out a laundry list of stellar connectivity features that blow those of the competition out of the water (though, without spoiling anything, Ford’s “features” do include a fax machine-enabled trailer, which is pretty retro-chic). Chevy highlights its RemoteLink, OnStar, and 4G LTE features as well as its compatibility with both Apple CarPlay for iPhone users and Android Auto for Droid users.

And here’s an awesome statistic to leave you with: Chevrolet has sold more 4G LTE enabled vehicles (1.4 million, to be exact,) since June 2014 than the rest of the industry combined. When it comes to connection, no one is doing it better than Chevrolet. And this includes your cell phone carrier!  Watch the video to see what we mean!

Be sure to stop in to Don Brown Chevrolet today to try Chevy’s 4G LTE on the brand new 2016 Silverado!

Chevrolet Volt at the Los Angeles Auto Show

2016 Chevrolet Volt

Chevrolet is known for offering consumers green vehicle options that also have superior power. That’s why it comes as no surprise that the 2016 Chevrolet Volt was recently honored with the 2016 Green Car of the Year award.

The significance of the Chevrolet Volt taking home Green Car of the Year isn’t about this single award. The Volt has now won the award in two succeeding generations, the first generation having debuted in 2011.

“This is the first time in Green Car of the Year history that a vehicle has won the award in two succeeding model generations,” said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal. He goes on to state that, “The Chevrolet Volt was a standout when it won 2011 Green Car of the Year and continues in that role today as the 2016 Green Car of the Year.” It is clear that the Volt is destined to do great in the green vehicle segment!

The Los Angeles Auto Show hosted finalists like the Toyota Prius, Honda Civic, Hyundai Sonata, and Audi A3 E-Tron. None could compete with the Volt’s 53-mile battery range, sport style, and plethora of technology.  Be sure to stop by Don Brown Chevrolet today to find out more about the 2016 Chevrolet Volt!

Get Ready for Winter with These Late-Fall Prep Tips

Fall Roads

Welcome to November, with cold winds, daily frost, scattered snow, icy roads, and all sorts of other wonderful elements that can damage your car – but, not if you prepare! Fall and winter can wreak havoc on your vehicle, but these late-fall prep tips will help keep you protected.

Watch your tire pressure. Fluctuating temperatures cause fluctuations in your tire pressure. Avoid a blow out by keeping tabs on your tires and making sure the pressure is always within the range suggested in your manual.

Keep your tank filled. Having a full tank of gas is a good idea for two big reasons. First, you never know when that first big winter storm will hit, and the last thing you want is to be stuck somewhere without enough fuel to get home. Secondly, gas in your tank helps to stop moisture from forming in your fuel lines where it can freeze, which can create an even bigger problem!

Check your oil. Oil viscosity, or thickness, plays a big part in how your car runs in varying temperatures. In colder environments, you’re engine will run better with a lighter oil. Check your owner’s manual for suggestions.

These late-fall prep tips can be the difference between a headache and an easy ride; make sure you follow them and stay safe this season!  Tell us at Don Brown Chevrolet if you have any suggestions for your vehicle this winter!

Corvette Z06 Clocks Fastest Time in Car and Driver’s Lightning Lap

2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

What do McLaren, Porsche, and Lamborghini all have in common? Besides not being a Chevy, they were all beat by the Corvette Z06.

Last month during Car and Driver’s Lightning Lap at Virginia International Raceway, Corvette Z06 clocked the fastest speed of 2015 with an impressive two minutes and 44.6 seconds. This awesome time is the second fastest in the history of the Lightning Lap; the number one time is held by a Porsche 918 Spyder, a vehicle which is almost eight times more expensive than the Corvette Z06.

During the race, the winning Z06 averaged 89.7 mph, hitting a top speed of 153.5 mph, all along 4.1 miles of hairpin curves and drastic turns. What makes the Corvette Z06 capable of these unbeatable feats? Its combination of the most advanced carbon-fiber materials, incredible downforce technology and engineering, and 650 horsepower.

The Car and Driver Lightning Lap did more than showcase the Corvette Z06’s capabilities: it proved that it belongs at the pinnacle of international racing alongside the world’s best supercars.  Being a big fan of the Corvette, Don Brown Chevrolet wants to hear your thoughts about the Corvette Z06 when compared to more luxurious brands like Porsche and Lamborghini!  Tell us your thoughts below!

How to Use a Car Jack

Changing a Tire

For anyone who hasn’t actually used a jack before, the vague instructions about jacking up your car in most car repair or tire replacement guides can be a roadblock. Next time you have a flat tire, keep these instructions on how to use a car jack in mind.  These tips will save you a lot of time and trouble the next time you have an issue with your vehicle.

First, using a jack can be very unsafe if you aren’t careful about it. For example, using just a jack is fine when you’re just changing out a flat tire, but if you plan on doing work underneath your vehicle you need a jack stand in order to ensure the vehicle is properly held up and doesn’t fall due to the weight of the car. You also need to put blocks by the wheels so the car doesn’t roll while you’re working.

When you go to jack up the car, be very careful about where you place the jack. Your owner’s manual should indicate the correct placement. If you have a scissor jack, you’ll insert the rod into the hole over the knob and crank it. With a hydraulic jack, you’ll pump the handle up and down. Turn the handle the opposite direction or turn the pressure release valve to lower the jack.

Hopefully this will help you the next time you’re in a pickle and need to use a jack.  If you still have questions or need help in a situation like this, feel free to call us at Don Brown Chevrolet and we can help!
