Chevrolet has launched an industry-first predictive maintenance system called OnStar Proactive Alerts, which warns customers about potential vehicle maintenance needs before any real issues occur. OnStar subscribers who own a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette, and Equinox can opt-in the service at Don Brown Chevrolet. This technology is providing even more convenience and peace of mind with your Chevy vehicle.
OnStar Proactive Alerts continually checks the health of the vehicle’s starter motor, 12-volt battery, and fuel pump. If it detects anomalies, it notifies drivers to take their vehicle in for service, helping them avoid unexpected repairs.
The system is sophisticated enough to “analyze and refine billions of pieces of data” gathered across the fleet of vehicles. It can even tell the difference between a 12-volt battery that is simply in a low state of charge (which can be resolved by going on a short drive) and one that is suffering from electrical resistance (which could indicate it needs replacement).
“With Proactive Alerts, we now can offer customers even greater peace-of-mind by taking the guesswork out of when to service their vehicle,” said Steve Holland, GM chief technologist for Vehicle Health Management.
