Chevrolet’s “Real People, Not Actors” Campaign Seeks Real Reactions

Chevrolet is ditching actors for their latest ad campaign, instead seeking out regular people like you and I. The campaign asks non-Chevy owners to get up-close and personal with a 2015 Chevrolet vehicle, and then films each person’s reaction.

Chevrolet sought out 400 vehicle owners, none of which own a Chevy. Through a number of focus groups, each person was introduced to the Chevrolet lineup, and their reactions caught on film. Those reactions are now being incorporated into a number of entertaining commercials that can be found on the automaker’s YouTube channel.

“First Impressions,” one of the videos in Chevrolet’s “Real People, Not Actors” campaign, shows as real people profess their disbelief at how luxurious the interiors are. “You would think that this is a brand new Audi,” exclaims one participant.

“The goal is to capture the spontaneous reactions of people as they’re exposed to today’s Chevrolet,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet marketing in a statement. He said, “people are immediately surprised and enthused when they experience our vehicles up close – the designs, technologies, and quality levels far exceed expectations.”
